One morning as I was frying potatoes and onions after the basic seasoning preparation for Poha, I was observing the easy flow of the oil’s viscosity in the pan and the way the ladle I was holding easily frying the veggies (potatoes and onion ) left to right and vice versa, and in turn making them lighter in the process. No sooner I added spices like Turmeric, chili powder, jeera powder, salt, etc the spice mixed veggies turned dense, and therefore tossing and frying them for some more time in the oil turned them heavier against their lighter nature a while back in the absence of spices.

This turned out to be a sudden epiphany full of insights about Life in its different phases. Life too is lighter when there are fewer spices or no spice at all (rare in normal human beings). No Sooner we add spices of greed, desire, attachments, wants and other negative emotions, the inner pure energy of Light and Love gets diluted in its grey shadows similar to the spiced mixed veggies that turn deep brown as they fry together and turn heavier in presence of spices. Though spices do add taste to life temporarily when it’s simple with no emotional paraphernalia, it becomes easier to adopt acceptance. This combined with the letting go attitude results in a lighter, happier state that helps us get attuned to the inner essence of the very Being!

Attachment – Detachment
Some attachments are like fine powdered spices.
They change our outward display a lot, effect our inner layers to a certain extent too.
Relationships such as of child, parent, partner, friends.
Some are like mustard ,cumin , curry leaves.
They add a flavour without layering our outer surface, they simply co-exist.
Complimenting, nurturing an inner trait in us.
Teachers, Mentors, Books.
